OUR FARM’S ANNUAL CALENDAR OF EVENTS

AUTUMN

This is a great time for BBQ ’s on Adelong Farm. The days are a pleasant temperature and the autumn colours start to appear. Lambs are being born at this time too.

MARCH

Autumn lambs start arriving now.
We test the cows for pregnancy.
Ploughing and cultivating.

APRIL

The annual Bathurst Rural Show commences around this time.
Lambs are still arriving.
Ploughing and cultivating.

May

Ploughing and cultivating.

WINTER

Stoke up the fire a bit more. Grab a book and cozy up next to the fire with a hot chocolate, or something warmer! Alternatively, don your beanie, gloves and coat and head out for an invigorating walk around the property.

JUNE

Ploughing, sowing and planting trees. These activities are performed throughout this season. Burning off and tidying up around the property. We do this at various times all through winter.

JULY

Calving time! On most mornings in July, new-born Angus calves can be seen in the paddocks. This is a wonderful event to witness, though it usually requires an early morning awakening. You can say hello after breakfast though!

AUGUST

Chilly winter is still greeting little calves. Perhaps the first thing they will see will be snow!

SPRING

Welcome back birdies! Walking to a picnic spot may be high on your agenda or perhaps a little croquet on the lawn? Everything is new and clean and exciting in spring on the farm.

SEPTEMBER

‘Click’ go the shears! One of the busiest and exciting times on the farm is the shearing. Anyone is welcome to come and give a hand (there is always a job to be done) or simply watch on and see how your favourite woolly jumper began.

We are still planting more trees, and fertilising the ground in preparation for the warmer months.

OCTOBER

The spring lambs start arriving now. This is also a very exciting time on the farm. Everyone loves a new-born lamb!

NOVEMBER

Lambs are still arriving.

Sheep are also dipped at this time.

SUMMER

Merry Christmas! It is warming up on the farm. We tend to take a well-earned rest from about the second week of December until the beginning of March.

DECEMBER
JANUARY
FEBRUARY

It does become quite hot during the summer months, in particular, January and February. Adelong Park Cottage is available for booking all year round, however, from mid December through to the end of February, we do tell people that it is not the best time to visit.
